August 15, 200421 yr comment_20360 Hi, I've had some experience with CCTV, but have never installed a Wireless CCTV system. I'm currently looking at installing a CCTV system with around 5-8 cameras at a small hotel and restauraunt. As some of the cameras are quite spread out I was considering using a wireless system. From what I can see most wireless receivers are limited to 4 channels. Is there any way of extending this to 8 ? Any other points about the pros and cons of using wireless systems would be appreciated please. September 25, 200421 yr comment_24791 Hi Mike the only wire free systems i've seen have a max of 4 channels and they are all on the same 2.4Ghz frequencies. Also because of the high frequencies the transmitter and receiver are much better suited being in line of sight with each other, any big thick walls or lumps of metal and they really struggle to get a picture. I would recommend spending 100 quid on a transmitter and receiver and doing some site tests. Hope thats been some help Simon. September 25, 200421 yr comment_24794 Cable Guy is spot on, your going to struggle with a wireless job with cheap transmitters. Stick to coax or try a Cat5 and Video Baluns set up, NVT do the best kit there.
