Guest dale
I think Hutchinson started the company many years ago and then because they couldnt invest in the infrastructure due to the massive costs involved they decided to cash in and jump ship, hence it was sold to france telecom. One2one was sold to T-Mobile as they wanted a share of the UK telecoms market and thought they could make T-Mobile a global brand (which is kinda working). But T-mobile is owned by Deutch Telecom. The only British mobile telecom operators are Vodafone, Three and MMO2 (formerly BT Cellnet).

Guest Daz
I would have thought you guys would be looking at the new nokia PTT function on the nokia "http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,53413,00.html" Instead of the old limited range or two way radios, these would work nation wide. Obviously, two way radios are better suited for to or more on site. I believe they work via GPRS so if you lot of gas bags had them, no doubt they could cost a bit! Great for broadcasting, Who's free to take the job at the Ann Summers shop??? Daz.
