Lovely bit of kit, can't see todays meters lasting that long. Believe it or not Arf ther'es 1 being sold on ebay at the moment for £25

might just 'watch' it if i can find it,

i would never sell mine, just curious to see what it fetches,

if you like retro meters then grab it imho just something classy about using a DM2 when bench testing, that red LED display is sort of mesmerizing - especially if you don't remember to 'zero' with leads shorted every 10 minutes :).

Found it, thanks Subs,

shows onlythe meter for sale (no case) with new PP3 battery, well it used euchre a much bigger 9 volt (PP6?) j think needed.

But if not using it off the bench and with a stabilised psu still a very useful easy to use ans see display meter.

Noted the Avo for £7.00, much revered I'n their day for accuracy, though I did not like to use them personaly.

legends way to small even when i had 20/20 vision and due to the sunken dial you basically had to have it propped up or on a shelf just to see it properly, so then your more worried it would slip and damage the movement, or crack the very brittle case.

My brother did that to his - I can still hear his cry's of woe lol!

Glad you found it Arf, as you said a Top piece of kit in it's day, never liked an AVO out on site for Alarm work myself. The 8 was just too big & bulky & the Multiminor was just the opposite, too small & as you say brittle, had my TMK TP5 for years before going up to the 500 & they were just right for field service work.

My favourites are the ACT battery tester, long discharge test in seconds and a cheap 2-way radio. I find the radio useful on the older panels which only have single zone audible walk test. Temp. replace the int. sounder with a 12v buzzer, one radio at panel set to auto-transmit when sound picked up, the other with me testing distant zones.......

Preffered the old ACT classic battery tester to the new ones, but the radios are a good idea.

If you use the transmit socket on the radio, then wire to a transistorised relay connected to an output, program output to monitor zone/ward, the 'roger' bleep wil action every time that zone/ward does.

O/c on a zone fault unmarked panel.

Simple truck,

rig zone wiring I'n series with sab trigger, from aux -.

siren operates when zone has 'cleared',

if eol use transistorised relay input to monitor zone, relay springs to sound siren.

Doesn't that tee the neighbours off a bit though?

:)

only sounds Shen zone clears, a short burst open zone to stop.

Works well if you have rodent damage to cables, open where convenient and short out using leads with meter on hi amp range.

If you have an unwanted low resistance short, feed ewd or pirs via the faulty zone, break short siren sounds or pirs stop indicating,, quick and easy.

I might be old but I've never been slow to make life easier ;).
