July 22, 201015 yr comment_246629 As im sure most of you know, BS8418 has been reviewed. This process has now been completed and the new BS8418:2010 has been published. There has been a tightening of both manufacturer and installer requirements on these systems. Also BSIA Form 228 is now included (form 228 = use of external detection on BS8418 systems) to improve the understanding and best practices of detection used on such systems. Due to the potential that manufacturers will have to redesign some of their equipment, and installers / arc's having to modify their processes and procedures it has been agreed there will be a timed dual running period. SO BS8418:2003+A1:2005 will not be withdrawn until July 2011 Your inspectorates will offer guidance on how you can operate during this dual running period.
