sussexamb
Hi. Hope someone can give me some good advice. I moved into a house last year which had an alarm fitted. The control panel is a Maplin MS3500 although the external sounder has A1 alarms on it. A recent 'free survey' by a local security company has suggested updating the control panel and keypad with a Eurosec CP8L and replacing the external sounder. The remainder of the currently installed system (IR and magnetic sensors and wiring) would be retained. The quote for this work was Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/28429-upgradingreplacing-an-alarm-system/ Share on other sites
james.wilson
im assuming the contractor you had around was unapproved as you cant do that and comply with the current regs. Also as your asking our advise, if it came from maplins then it is diy type gear not pro equipment. I personally would want to replace all the equipment. However assuming the cabling is ok and compliant we would probably retain that. For a takeover (ie full check, commision etc) and replace the controls and bells id say it is cheap. Unknown as to weather its good value mind as it depnds on mnay factors. ie took my car to a garage and they are gonna replace the enginer for a 1.0 litre ford for securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. james.wilson
well i cant see how it can be done. You cant issue a certificate on a system using ungraded equipment. Unless (id be very suprised but could be i suppose) the sensors are graded. But by the age id assume not. securitywarehouse Security Supplies from Security Warehouse Trade Members please contact us for your TSI vetted trade discount. Guest RJBsec
As it's only replacing part of the system, could it not be argued that 'grade' is BS4737 - or do one of your 'variations'?
