June 27, 200421 yr comment_16330 Hope someone can help - we have an Optima xl4 alarm that has "frozen"! The day indicator light is showing, along with zone 1 being lit, but none of the buttons are working. The only thing that we have "done" was to remove the main house fuse that covered the sockets, in order for our electrian to remove a wall socket (totally unconnected to the alarm). On replacing it, the alarm was then frozen. The only instructions we have are the customer instructions, which offer no help. Is this something we can attempt to fix ourselves, or is it an experts job?! Thanks in anticipation... June 27, 200421 yr comment_16332 Looks like it hasn`t been serviced in a while, and the battery is dead or on its way out. You can temporarilly cure this fault by removing the panel cover and disconnecting the battery. Then re-fit the cover and downpower the mains supply from the panel for a few seconds, re-applying the mains should bring the panel back to life, but the security code may have defaulted to 0123 or 1234. This is a common fault with the old Optima`s, The control panel battery will need replacing ASAP, otherwise the same will happen when ever there is a power cut. I`d suggest getting a engineer to come out to service the system and replace the battery for you. ........................................................
