MENVIER TS690ID

Featured Replies

I have done soon changes to the sensors on a TS690ID panel. now the panel will not identify any of the biscuits. the only sensors it will pick up are the ones controlled from the key pads. I have diconnected the system and attached a biscuit direct to the panel but it will still not identify it. Any ideas?

Bodmas,

Not knowing what work ?? you have done to the sensors or wiring??? you may have to relearn the ID devices in which case you will need the engineer code and engineer manual. was this originally an ID system?? or have you just made it so ??.

The system has always been an ID system. The work that's been has been to rewire two sensors because of building work. I have the enginner code and manual and I have tied a relearn but it still will not pick up the sensors.

Simple test to see if you've blown the ID loop driver, remove the existing loop wires from the terminals then take a single biscuit and make a note of the number on it, then connect the blue and yellow legs of that biscuit direct into the loop terminals on the panel itself. Make sure you refer to the manual for the correct polarity.

Then from ENGINEER MENU 2, press 1, and then 'B' and the RKP will display 2 rows of 16 characters indicating the state and availability of any biscuits on the loop. the top row indicates from left to right, ID numbers 1 to 16 and the bottom row from left to right indicates ID numbers 17 to 30. 2 rows of blank means no biscuits. Any 'H' indicates a healthy biscuit. Any 'A' indicates an active biscuit. The manual shows the other states. Pressing 'C' will rescan the loop and any biscuits on the loop will show up as an 'A' for active. If your biscuit doesn't show up, check the biscuit again to make sure it's not damaged or a leg has come away. Alternatively, try another biscuit. If theres still no response, I'm affraid the panel needs a repair that only the manufacturers can do.

Other things to check. If all your detectors have individual multicores going back to the panel, try adding a single detector's loop wiring to the ID loop terminals one by one, doing a relearn as you add each. Keep adding until the fault appears. The last cable added has the fault.

Also check the biscuit itself. Wired biscuits are rather delicate things. They don't need much bending for the legs to short together in the white plastic chip carrier. They do snap off quite easily too.

If I was to give a stab in the dark reason for your fault, I bet you have blown the ID driver.

Thanks Tony

I've done that test with negitive results. I've also done a slow scan voltage check and could not get any readings. It looks like a panel repair is needed.

The TS690IDM panel can be a ball ache when you're modifying the system. They don't like being messed with lol. Always a good idea to disconnect the loop and aux power cables at the panel before making any changes. Always checking for dead shorts between the 2 aux power and 2 loop cables at the panel before re-connecting. The loop is electronically protected. Before totally giving up, I'd suggest a full down power and factory reset. You never know. 5 years ago when I was involved with creating an external perimeter system for SECOR here in Hull with MENVIER's then Tony Carnie, 690ID panels were brand new and were very delicate. Even wiring the loop in reverse would blow the ID loop. Even adding the odd choke to the last detector was enough to cause errors on the loop. Things are a little more sturdy now with the 690ID but sending 12v into the ID loop terminal(s) will still kill the ID loop.

Good luck mate.

Bloody Hell,

That's a name i've not heard for a while.

Tony Carney used to be menviers Regional sales guy, but not spoke to him for about 8 years.

You don't know where he's at now do you Compost?

Service Engineer and all round nice bloke :-)

The views above are mine and NOT those of my employer.

It looks like the ID curcuit has blown. Is it a replacement panel or can you obtain just the curcuit board for the TS690ID panel and who is the best supplier for it.

The PCB can be sent off for repair. Gardiner Security will send it off for you. I don't know if they still do it but they used to do a straight swap with a reconditioned board plus the usual paperwork thats involved if you're one of their trade customers.
