Anyone Used Ethernet Module On A Galaxy Dimension?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any idea of the capabilities of the ethernet module in a Dimension panel. Honeywell aren't too forthcoming on their website, and it seems that you have to buy a lot of (expensive) proprietary software to use it.

Is there anything as useful as a web interface for the panel? Can it be configured to send ethernet data to specific ports on other devices? We mostly work on the IP side of things (almost exclusively with Mobotix cameras) so it would be a real bonus if the ethernet module lets us integrate stuff.

Any feedback gratefully recevied.

Thanks,

Paul

No currently there is no web server in it. There is a web server planned Q2 next year i think.

You 'could' do anything with it but you would need the protocol. YOu can make it send SIA or point ID info to set IP but you would need something to listen to that.

Id advise you stick with serial, we do the same (ie hook em up to servers) and use the serial port and just listen to the events that occur. Our software (we wrote it) then does the active floor plans, HA etc as required.

Great - thanks for the info. Very helpful - we'll look at the RS232, and keep our fingers crossed for the Web server next year!

Thanks,

Paul
