This will be me first xmas in 7 years not being on call, went self employed 2 months ago. The main down side is now I have a week & a half talking to my other half. Happy days.

Top tip: if you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because i bet thats what REALLY throws you into a panic and dont forget the one thing you cant recycle is wasted time.

I should have been on call christmas day but the rota was changed allowing us to decide on what we wanted to do. I had already accepted to do christmas day but one of the other lads wanted it. He mentioned something about the mother-in-law coming round christmas day.

As for rates of pay for call, my old company used to pay just
