It went off topic in post #3 and never once went back. No sign of the OP after post #1 unfortunately.

Might as well close it, or let it carry on as a new debate which is after all quite interesting? :)

your all missing the point - O/P doesnt want to leave work and be an alarm installer - i was taking the (bad word filter faulty ?) - he just saw someone do one at work and thought he could then do one for a " friend " LOL ( odd how I`ve got loads of friends when their systems are faulty but none of em are my friends when its their turn )

no one told me how many carrots these horse things eat - might have to up the charge if they aren`t collected soon

Andy - you usually know a bit about these things but if one of these flea magnets I`m stuck with happened to get across to next doors garden and happened to eat next doors prize winning blooms could I tell em I`ve never seen the nag before and the new forge they saw in my shed was really a big BBQ?

tbh that is a really high quality post imo

a lot of guys start from scratch and hit the wall in 3 - 6 months, those who have survived have posted their thoughts as to why.

to me, very interesting input with a few jokes to lighten the mood.

KEEP IT OPEN as it's now a discussion (i think forums are designed for that?) and many will benefit from the content this posted so far

Cheere guys

I seem to have created quite a topic. I am City & Guilds trained in Portable Appliance Testing and currently looking at taking the City & Guilds 2330 Part 1 and 2 in electrical Installation and have wired EOL with my own Alarm system. I have also previous fitted in my house a scantronic basic 7 zoner, sorry I have forgotten the model name.

Once again chaps thanks for the advice, great Web Site.

you think you might want to do more systems in the future ? there comes a point where you doing more than just " friends and family " and you loose the protection ( although it was very limited anyway ) from been sued and the like.
