Bt Versatility

Hi Guys

I have been asked to provide a premicell on to a BT Versitility system, it currently has isdn2 ( 4 channels) and appears to have pstn connections but I have no idea how to programme it, any idea's?

If it is only the basic 008 Central Control Unit then it is already full with Line cards at 4 channels and will need expansion stage 1 to add a PSTN line card (Expansion backplane, Ports Module, PSTN Module).

If it aready has more than 8 extensions and has a Ports module, then as long as they are not using lines 5-8 - you can add a PSTN module and wire up the premicell as Line 5 etc.

These systems have an internal MDF area containing the krone IDC connectors for PSTN lines and RJ45 sockets for ISDN connections - but the linecards connected actually liven these up - ISDN cards are red, PSTN cards are black, PRI card is yellow.

Mobile call routing - 07 calls automatically to the Premicell line is done using the alternate routing tables and it can be exclusive or preferred (2nd mobile call will reroute to the ISDN if Premicell line already busy or not).

Programing of the routing is much easier from a PC using the Ovida software but can also be done from the Master Telephone - if the system is on a very early firmware version then you may have trouble programming the routing tables from a phone and will need to use a PC.

Of course all this depends really on the Premicell purchased, some are for PSTN connection, some for ISDN.

Simon

Thanks Simon, nice chatting to you the other day, the system has the main unit with 1 blue voice card and 2 red isdn 2 cards, adjacent to that is an ports module, and beside that an ADSL card, the ADSL card is not connected to the network.

The Ports Module brings total extensions to 16, it also has 2 line card slots for either an extra 4 analogue lines or 4 ch of ISDN2e, you could plug a 2-Line PSTN card into that, equip one of the lines and wire it to the premicell (as Line 5 etc) and then point 07 routing to it.

ADSL Internet module is on a big sales push for some time (needed or not !) but in essence it is a limited function, overpriced router. Suggest leave it unused. Most ones I have seen onsite have never actually been connected to ADSL.
