March 24, 200719 yr comment_160075 Someone on another forum said that they installed an alarm with a spur to a socket. Mum's house has JUST been redecorated (carpets due in a few days) so we don't want to go smashing holes through things. Does anyone else have experience of powering from a spur to the nearest socket? Will the alarm go off if a hoover is turned on? March 24, 200719 yr comment_160080 Will the alarm go off if a hoover is turned on? Not if the wiring is done properly (i.e. to standards) and the hoover isn't seriously faulty. There are also various filters and spike suppressors available to help with electrical interference (I have one on my alarm). I think (pro's correct me) the alarm is unlikely to be triggered by even a bad electrical problem when in day mode (which it will be if you're there hoovering), though you may get a tamper indication.
