I have a Optima XM installation thats been in for years, the circuit board in the controll panel recently burnt out, can an Optima G3 control panel be used as a direct replacement, leaving the rest of the instalation (detectors, door switches, bell ect.) as is.

Yes it can, I would find out why, your original panel burnt out or was the battery u/s and the panel continued charging.

You will be able to reuse your existing detectors and contacts, but i would fit a new bell as the battery is probably u/s also.

Also , a new bell box will have the required timer that an old box probably wouldnt, and would look better with its sleek low profile housing and flashing led's...oh err. B)

Or just fit a new resistor to fix the panel - cost you about 10p

Resistor is a 47 Ohm 2-3 Watt device marked on board as R47.

Equivalent panel is the Optima 8 zone G3
