Hi, We've had a veritas 8C alarm set up in our house for the last few years (it has been installed when the previous owners were living here). It's given us no problems as we were given the code and instruction manual. Today though the alam has just stopped. There's still power, but the unset light is constantly on. The Power led (green light) constantly flashes and entering our code does nothing. Is there anything I can do to reset the system? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
breff Posted March 17, 2007 Share Posted March 17, 2007 Sounds like there has been no mains voltage to the panel and the battery is low. The power light flashes when there is no mains present or the battery is low. The opinions I express are mine and are usually correct! Noticed that the cover was slichtly open. The alarm is in the cupboard under the stairs and we've been moving boxes in and out of there so could've knocked it. Pressed the cover back into place and the unset light has gone off - just the flashing power LED now. No sounds when I enter the alarm code, no ability to set the alarm. Guest anguscanplay Posted March 17, 2007 Share Posted March 17, 2007 when did you first notice this fault if today etc i would be looking again in the cupboard have you caught the fused spur or tripped out a mains fuse if the outside sounder starts sounding soon then its definatly a lack of mains have you had to enter the code previously today if so its indicative of the lid tamper which may not be resited properly any thing you can remeber about when you first noticed the fault can help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jaimec Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share Posted March 17, 2007 Only noticed it today but been working at home for the last couple of days so haven't needed to set the alarm. By the outside sounder, do you mean the kind of sound you get when the alarm goes off? Is this likely to happen and if so, what can I do to turn it off, don't want the alarm going off all night. If it's a dead battery, can I just get a new one from Maplin or an electrical specialist? Could it be a bust fuse inside the control panel? We've had no power cuts and all other electrics in the house are working ok so if its the mains, then I'm guessing that its either a fuse or perhaps a dying battery then. jaimec Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share Posted March 17, 2007 Just been under the stairs to have a look and could smell something coming from the control unit - opened it up by the two screws and saw that the battery has completely corroded at the connector.
