February 28, 200719 yr comment_154849 Hi I just purchased a powermax+ alarm kit and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to buy an internal siren that I can connect to it??? Thanks for your help hi and welcome siqveland, by internal siren you need to be sure you mean a unit where you input 12 volts and it makes a noise (via built in components) this is oposed to an 'internal speaker' which is usually (you guessed it) a speaker with a plastic cone driven off a special output in the panel. you can get either from Maplins Electronics (just google it), just be sure you know which one you need before ordering. using a speaker can be a bit overpowering when setting and unsetting your system, but will give more indication by the tone's of your systems status, often we fit one for this and internal sirens around the building to scare the intuders off. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! February 28, 200719 yr comment_154869 The panel has a piezo siren internal to it - but I guess you know this. It is fairly loud i think it is in the order of 90dB, but I have not checked. February 28, 200719 yr comment_154896 Thanks for your replies..I know the panel has an internal siren but I was wanting to disable this and place the panel in a concealed location.. I found some nice sirens on the maplins site.. thanks Where is the best place to position these?? under the floor?? on a wall?? not under the floor as it will cut down the sound, usually high up in an asthetic as possible position not affected by steam from kettles or heat from ovens etc. regs alan If you think education is difficult, try being stupid!!!! February 28, 200719 yr comment_154908 If you are fitting an external sounder ( speaker) from the panel it is preferred to have a tamper circuit with it as well.
