Accenta 8 fault

Featured Replies

 My Accenta 8 system has been fine for ages. Then two days ago the external and internal alarms and strobe have started going off for no reason. When the alarm isn't even set. Re-setting using the normal 0000 PIN always cancels the internal alarm and strobe but not always the external alarm.

Tripping the house fuses and switching back on reset the external bell once. This last time, nothing would cancel the external bell and it seemed to pack up of its own accord after abot 15 mins.

Any idea what is going on ?

Its whats known as a "runnaway bell" in the trade.

Your external sounder has its own battery that wil sound the sounder in the event of: loss of power from the control panel, or if it is tampered with in any way.

When was it last serviced?

Pete

I've been here three years and it hasn't been serviced in that time. Why would the internal bell be sounding of its own accord too ? And fixing itself when I reset ?

Youve got a TAMPER Fault.

always cancels the internal alarm and strobe but not always the external alarm
and it could well be the bellbox tamper circuit.

Everytime a tamper circuit is tripped be it bell or detector the internal sounder sounds to inform the customer theres a problem. When you enter the code the internal sounder stops but the external sounder is still sounding on its own battery because it has either lost power from the control panel or has a tamper fault.

Your system should be regulary serviced to prevent faults like this occuring.

OK, saw the rest of the reply. Bellbox tamper circuit. Something in the box or something on the line between the box and the control panel then ? Any chance that any of this is due to batteries needing replacement ?

The internal alarm first went off a 3am. Meaning somebody was probably tampering with the box outside ? And then has gone off at 11pm and 8pm the last two days. Any chance the tamper can occur through "old age" ?

It wont be battery it will be something like a mouse has chewed through a cable water inside the bell box water ingress on the pcb or tamper switch poor conection in the cpu or sounder the list goes on and on.

Chances are there is more than one thing wrong with your system than just the bell box tamper.

Get it serviced.

Pete
