Can anyone help advise where I could attend a intro CCTV course......

Basically need to cover the concept / products / installation......factors.

Iam an Electrician with a technical background so I'm not a complete novice...

An ideal course would last 1/ 2 days......any ideas?

1/2 a day, they would just be able to train you not to wire the camera's all in parallel !

only joshing you, i've just been to too many alarms installed by sparks, with all door contacts and tampers in parallel

i think Gardiner Security also run coarses from time to time laid on by suppliers, also check out Norbain SD, if your a real smarty, book one of there mobile demo vans to come and advise one of your projects, its free advice and a demo of kit too.

I did a Norbain course years ago. Still got my books etc.. Was quite expensive but was worth it. Don't know what the others offer.

It might be worth seeing what Pelco are offering at the moment.

I know there are a few others (Tavcom being the most well known), but at this time of night, I'm doing well just to be typing in english ;)

MS, if you need any links, I'll have to see what I've got listed.

Be careful with manufacturers courses. The plus point is they are oftern free, the negative is they only talk about their products.

cheers

ps: and no the Norbain course I went on didn't just feature Vista. May have changed, who knows.

Honeywell do a good ones, Recorders, Domes, General CCTV and Network. All pretty good. Speak to Mark Oakenshaw at Honeywell Video Training.

Courses are in Runcorn.

Just trying to do my job

Agreed, but if someone wants to learn the basics, and manufacturers are prepared to supply that knowledge, then it's up to the individual how and whether they accept the offer of usually free tuition.

Yer pays yer money ....
