Personally I use a Mac you dont seem to get these problems , everything works straight out of the box and keeps working.

My laptop asked if it should download ie7 earlier and was promptly told no and don't ask again,

I've used firefox (and it's predecessors) since release and will never use that bloated bug ridden pile of waste that is ie again.
