Could anybody please advise how to connect a 12 volt battery to my inspiration system,

Could i do it without the battery backup unit, ie by connecting a 12 volt external battery.

I have a 4 pin plug that fits the connector but do not know which pair i would use to connect a battery to.

I would be most grateful for any advice on this matter.
