I have installed a Texecom Veritas R8 Plus control panel with an ADE Reson8 bellbox. When I test the external sounder using the test facility on the Programmer the sounder works fine.

However, when the alarm is activated by triggering any of the sensors/contacts the external sounder does not sound but the internal sounder does activate, the bellbox strobe flashes and the Texecom Speech Dialler works fine.

I have the control panel wired to the bellbox as follows:

Control panel terminals____________Bellbox terminals

Permanent Pos. supply ---------------------- Bell +

Switched neg. to activate sounder ---------- Bell -

Negative tamper return ---------------------- Return

Permanent negative supply ------------------ Hold off -

Switched negative to activate strobe ------- Strobe -

I presume that the above wiring is correct as somebody on this forum advised me on this.

Any ideas what may be going wrong?

Checked the Programmer and the bell delay is off.

Time to get your meter out and see whats switching and what isnt then!

And check the manual for the bellbox, you may need a link on the bellmod, as i found to my surprise using an Elmdene box this week!
