Wireless Domestic Alarms

Featured Replies

As another post on this forum shows, I have been extremely pleased with the Ademco Microtech Galaxy 16+ installed in my current home five years ago; great kit that does exactly what I need and which was professionally, reliably, installed.

Since writing the post I refer to above and whilst performing some research dictated by a house move, I have for the first time come across wireless alarm systems.

I would expect some to be dire in terms of reliability, but if I am prepared to pay for quality will I ever get the absolute (and I mean absolute) reliability that I've had with the Galaxy if I go wireless?

Normally I wouldn't consider wireless as it's another dimension to complication and more triggers for unwanted activation, but the new house is beautifully decorated to a high standard including hard flooring upstairs that I'd rather rather not be lifted.

In any case, wireless sensors still require power - which implies cable runs anway or the pain of battery replacement. Should I just forget the idea and look for an equivalent replacement to the Galaxy?

TVM.

I thinks it possible to have a reliable wireless system, as Roger has pointed out!

I wouldnt condsider anything less than a Proffessional Wireless System though, forget the crud you can buy online and elswhere.
