Decent Antivirus Software

Kaspersky (Previously AVP) Is a very decent antivirus - It was suffering from slowdowns in the version before last but the most recent version has solved that very well along with still being about the most effective bit of kit out there at the moment.

Please remember also that nowdays most systems need to look at 2/3 different software solutions.

1) Antivirus - I recommend Kaspersky.

2) Spyware scanner - I recommend Xoftspy

(Virii & Spyware are effectively exactly the same - both just as potentially damaging - the only difference is that spyware doesnt self replicate. )

And finally 3) For those serious about security - or those with secure information stored on their pc's the only real solution is common sense and careful manual checks. ANY AND EVERY commercial antivirus package can be bypassed with intent. So keep your eyes on what is normally running on your system, consider using rootkit revealer or similar on a regular basis and don't be scared to get to learn what is and isn't right on your system.
