  1. Thanks very much for the information Adrian. May I ask when this v4 firmware will be released? I don't have the lead as yet to flash it, but may flash it once v4 update is available.
  2. Thank you everyone for your helpful replies. @AdrianMealing That's very useful as I believe my panel already has v3.01 firmware. If it's already got the encryption, do I need to enable it via wintex or other method? Thanks again
  3. Thanks. I have a com ip and do want to use a mobile app. But I've got to say that I'm baffled that texecom, an advanced international company, rather than fixing the problem, is advising customers to simply ignore the vulnerability the alarm has.
  4. I was also surprised by texecom's reply. With criminals always looking for different ways of making money, what's to say that your average burglar won't have some knowledge of network hacking? I just hope that there is a way of securing it as this is a worrying article.
  5. Hi everyone, I was just looking up some information on texecom, when I came up with this website:- http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/12/31/iot_alarm_crypto/ It states the a security expert believes the alarm is open to hack attacks when you leave the port open for your router. But this is what texecom advise the owner to do:- "To be able to remote control the alarm system remotely, you open a firewall port in the router and do a port forwarding to the internet. But this allows the mobile app to directly connect to the ComIP module over an unencrypted connection, Lo Castro discovered. Using WireShark, he said he had discovered that data traffic between the mobile app and the control panel is done in clear text or encoded to BASE64. That means potentially confidential information like the alarm control panel (UDL) password, device name and location are exposed" What can you guys advise? Thanks
  6. Hey guys, I've been searching for a burglar alarm for our house for a while and then I came home yesterday after a 2 week holiday and the missus has gone mad and purchased from a friend, lol. It's a Texecom Elite 24 Wired Kit. Other than slightly damaged packaging, the alarm is new and comes with a Control Panel, Keypad, COM2400 Communicator, 3 Compact IRs, 5 keyfobs, Odyssey 1E External Sounder, 8 Core Alarm Cable, 7.0ah 12v Back Up Battery, Anti Masking Dual Technology PIR Burglar Alarm Surface Contact Her friend had bought this about a month ago to install in his property, but decided against installing as it and ended up purchasing a Visonic powermaster 33 as he wanted a wireless setup to avoid damaging the floor tiles. Anyway I'm now stuck with this and don't have a clue where to start from, so I joined this forum. I do have some knowledge about alarms, but usually they are well-known like yale or response. Could anyone help me with this? Before I install the cable wiring, I want to try out the alarm as it is. Once I feel I'm competent enough, I will then move to installing it properly.
