No, you're not allowed to put them in the toilets in care homes either

I've read through the quality care commission document but it doesn't give me anything to go by. Stick to communal areas and signage!

  2. System Displays > Site Name will be what the customer see's if they get a text. I call it 'home' or whatever you fancy.

                                >Sign on messgae = Text customer sees when panel not site (company name etc..)

If you set display when set then the panel will light red what area is set also show the text on screen for the user.

  3. Second above, be extremly careful with the braid and core, happened to me only last weekend!

Won't be reserve polarity as it would stop the other 3 from working. That looks like cabling issue, and if you've used that cabling before i'd point my finger at connectors.

Have you tried sending a pattern down it? If so what are the results?

  4.  The pwermax also looks ok other than the need for the 240v for the siren. Putting spurs in downstairs near the supply is no problem. trying to find a ring main in an attic is altogether different.

Eh? The siren is wireless too, literally AC mains to the panel and off you go!

I'm going to be honest, I serviced a Yale system a few weeks ago, it was easy. Changed all the batts too, but they was just standard Alkaline batteries! A intruder alarm needs to be relaible and with that Li-ion batteries should be used too.

At the end of the day, it is DIY and as professional installers shouldnt we be promoting equipment that has years of R+D and capitial plouged into it?

  5. OP I mean no disrespect here but as an apprentice you tend to not have a vast amount of experience. If this is going to be your bread and butter you gotta be good, can you take over a Castle panel one day, then work witha Pyronix / Visonic the next? Do you fully understand IP cctv and networking? Wiring locks and the diiferent access panels on the market?

I think the issue now is theres a lot of installers, all going for the same work but customers don't want to part with their cash. This is where you start seeing the Swann's and the Yales everywhere, that's killing local work.

I'm a one man band, 25, estate car, signed up, advertise online, flyer and word of mouth but I still don't have enough work for full time!

If you can make it work, do it. But it isnt easy, not by a long shot.
