  1. The customer is a old dear not a lot of spare cash. Old system and doesn't want it upgrading otherwise id stick a lightsys with module in. TBH I'm not looking to make a real profit on this one,
  2. Can anyone recommend a gsm dialler to fit to a customers alarm. They are ditching the phone line and just want something to dial out using sim card. Have used the risco one before but is a bit pricey. Just need something basic and reliable that can call and maybe text.
  3. Never go with the RAC for van insurance. Had someone crash into the back of me F.....G the van up. Spent 6HOURS on the phone through the day trying to process the accident, being passed from different company / department only to be told by the people who sort out the repair and replacement vehicle that they wont do anything until they have fully investigated the claim. Wasn't even my fault! The guy who crashed in to me was with LV, so took up their offer of sorting it all out. 30 min later all sorted.
  4. Thanks for the reply, I should have said ft rather than meters
  5. Does anyone know if running cat5e underground with a fibre optic phone cable would cause any issues with picture quality on a IP camera system. The total run is about 200m with about 130m of it next to the fibre cable underground.
  6. I have a site that would like a panel in the hallway, there are no sockets in the hall that I can get to for the spur, however on the other side of the wall there is a socket in the kitchen. Would taking the power from the kitchen be classed as part P, as I am not adding any power in the kitchen, just spurring off to a non special location.
  7. Hi all, I have a site that has 8 analogue cameras. They are connected by cat 5e using all in one video and power baluns, Ive had 3 problems with cameras just dropping out. Each time it has been a case of replacing the balun. The only reason I can think of is that 2 months ago one of the external waterproof boxes leaked and buggered the balun up. i replaced it and shortly after the psu died, possibly due to the balun outside shorting power out out. All the ones that have failed since are internal, and are secure in enclosures. Anyone had a problem like this before? Any ideas?
  8. Ex Army Royal Signals technical trade 8 years and have been in the security industry for 9 years. Looking for sub contracting work in installation and maintenance of CCTV, and Intruder alarms. Have experience in installation of access control, Videx , Paxton etc. Unmarked vehicle, own tools and insurance. Willing to travel.
  9. I've started writing some, every time you think ive done it all I think of something else. Its mainly for the "my sensors fell off when I was dusting" brigade who happen to be decorating at the time and want them re fitting for free.
  10. Is there a standard T and C form for customers covering intruder, cctv etc that I can download anywhere, or does everyone create their own?
  11. Good advice chaps. . Any one looking for subbys btw? Based in Hampshire and will travel.
  12. thanks for the good advice so far £7.50 a hour! id be able to treat myself to a maccy Ds for lunch on that kind of cash!
  13. Thanks for that, its along the lines of what i was thinking. Call me thick but what's a PO?
  14. Im new to the subby game, and all the firms I have worked for have never used them so I am just looking for a rough figure. I don't want to scare people off by being too expensive, however im not going to work for peanut's. .
  15. I know this has been asked before but no one really gave a clear answer and it was a couple of years ago. What is the average daily sub contracting rates for doing cctv / intruder and access. I have own tools, unmarked vehicle, full insurance, own teeth etc etc etc.
  16. schhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell everyone.
  17. Its one of them there covert ones
  18. Cant seem to find where the IP module fits?
  19. Fitted a few of the lightsys 2 they seem ok, much easier to programme if you do it via laptop. You will have to fit a gsm unit if you want to send texts. If you want it to send voice messages you will need to fit a voice module.
