  1. Ive seen the "Links" menu but I have always skipped by it. I will get the programming manual out in a while and read up on links (what they are, what they do) Thanks.
  2. I don't really know which ones will work with the older style wireless rio to be honest with you. I have 5 doors that I would want covered as they would be the hardest ones to wire up. One of those being a double set of french doors which might be better with a shock perhaps?
  3. Once complete I intent to use my alarm day and night. Complete set for when away from home and part set for perimeter / ground floor at night. I will also have one zone that I want to be set all the time. It will cover a safe. But it will need to be disarmed for authorised entry. A 24hr zone function on the galaxy can't be disarmed. Probably on a contact / shock. Is this where groups come in?
  4. I will see if I can find any. Might just make the door contacts a bit neater / easier.
  5. Ask I correct in thinking that the galaxy classic panel can not accept a wireless rio?
  6. Battery connected and I heard the relay click, so I guess its working. That and the fault has cleared!
  7. I was just being a daffy diyer With the cover open the tamper caused the open circuit. closed up the cover and the values kicked in. although i had set 1k and 2k which gave me 3k I quickly fixed it. Pro in the making here! all.
  8. I have the instructions, but im just a little stuck with the setup here. I had it working fine with a 1k resistor in the panel and the zone wired into the ALM terminals and the ALM jumper set to 1k. If i move one of the ALM wires over to the TAM terminal as suggested in the diagram the panel reports Open Circuit Tamper (infinite resistance).
  9. manuals eh .... who'd of thought. they went with the old house .... I thought this sensor only gave me just one set of resistors to play with not both, I'll go google
  10. Im fitting my Pyronix DT PIR's which (in my old house, not installed by me) didnt use the built in EOL resistors but had them all in the panel. I want to make this one a bit neater and somewhat more "proper job". Im guessing the clue is in the title - END of Line - that the resistors need to be within the housing of the detector and not within the panel. I need 1k closed and 2k open - i can get the first 1k from the built in resistors, but my issue now is physically, how would I fit the second 1k resistor into this space... and does the tamper work on the same 1k/2k principle ?
  11. I've put a loop from the hidden away "t" terminal and that's cleared down the tamper fault. Now it is just the battery test fault - batteries ordered. Once thats cleared then I can move on from a clean sheet. I'll report back!
  12. So they are going to want 1k across them then aren't they.
  13. No I have a separate smart Rio, which shows as a mod tamper on Rio302 when I try to exit engineer mode. But it doesn't have a tamper switch on the smart Rio board. Not that I can see anyway.
  14. Thanks. I'll post a new thread if need be, but the smart psu is now showing a tamper but it doesn't have a tamper switch?
  15. Perhaps I'm missing something as I don't have any batteries installed yet but the main board is outputting voltage to the tails but the smart psu isn't.
  16. I put my meter on the tails of the galaxy main board battery charger and it returned 13.75v. On the smart psu it showed nothing. The fuse had blown. Replaced and checked fuse (middle one) but the tails on the smart psu still return nill voltage. All three fuses show good continuity. Any ideas.
  17. Yeah it sure is. I'll put some case fans in there to help push the air. around
  18. So it turns out you need to click "new site" before trying to dial into it. Cables worked fine which means I don't have to sit in the loft in this heat. Solved. Thanks for your help though.
  19. I'm turning my serial cable into a definite 9 to 25 pin null modem cable tonight. Just looking for the right pin maps.
  20. I'm pretty sure one of the cables is one I've used before but I will check. I've got a serial cable and a converter to up size it to parallel. I will set the baud rate at 9600 on the module, galaxy gold and the comm port of the pc. From what I recall it just plugs into the S1 socket on the 500's main board. It doesn't need Extra Lines does it? Thanks
  21. I've got the Galaxy 500 panel powered up and have hooked in the RS232 module for use alongside Galaxy Gold. I just cant seem to get the two to talk to each other. I set up the coms ports (on PC) but the option to "Dial" site is greyed out. Its been ages since ive used it but I must be overlooking something. Any ideas? Thanks.
  22. So for ease, lets say im wiring in buzzers to the O/P, the negative runs to the O/P Terminals and the positive goes to any of the 12v +ve
  23. Bringing up a dead post, but I have now lost my copy of Galaxy Gold. Does anyone have a copy ?
