  1. That, 6wb, is exactly why the number of posters is limited, no one knows everything, and there may be more than one way to skin a cat, unfortunately some people do know it all!. Thanks for all the help so far btw chaps, appreciated. Rich.
  2. lol Norm. Any thoughts on this little thingamy jiggy? eBay-110728743531 Off the fag incinerator to my 7aH, I also got some bigger 'ens to if better.
  3. Seeing!, the lights in the backs of vans are ****, as we know.
  4. Thanks guys for the replies. Swb ciggy socket dies with the ignition, purely led strip-5 mtrs- to go around the inside of the back. The internal light at the back times out even if overidden on the switch. I could just use the 7aH, but that means I gotta change it/charge it sometimes, just wondered if there is a suitable way of keeping it topped up in van so to speak. Ta chaps, Rich.
  5. As title, easiest way to connect a battery to cigarette socket to keep it topped up, this battery would be supplying LED lighting-reason for battery is so ignition need not be on to use lighting, but battery would be charged whilst driving etc, any thoughts people?. guys.
  6. Norm I was suggesting that staples are ok for 8 core etc, just that Al Yeti said he'd tried it on cat 5, and I thought I'd heard of problems possibly matey.
  7. Have I heard somewhere that stapling cat 5 isn't recommended due to the deformation and consequent possible problems due to crosstalk etc?.
  8. Be aware that the elite/premier 24, essentially the same, will only give you 10 zones out of the box, 8 on board and 2 off the keypad, if you require more an expander will be needed. IMHO the upgrade you are looking at offers the best in flexibility, btw I'm not affiliated to Tex in any way, just use their kit, on numerous occasions.
  9. Iirc you can stipulate the values of resistors you are using, if this is the case then you can use what you have painstakingly fitted, if not the elite norm is 4k7 and 2k2, so you would just have to swap out what you have at the moment, note, the elite is quite a massive step up from the R8+/Excel as far as progging goes.
  10. If you go prem elite route, you will need a keypad to suit, the one you have won't work.
  11. I usually take a piccie of the screen showing all cams recording and date/time just before I leave site. And have used this as 'evidence' when user has 'fiddled' and accused in the past.
  12. One should cover that, may have to replace it if it's an old 'en though. Assuming no real obstructions to the room.
  13. The living room must be huge then, pir's usually have quite a decent range.
  14. And more to the point, anyone with half an ounce of brain, should be able to figure something as basic as that.....surely?.
  15. Brilliant if the neighbours, if any, respond, my argument exactly swb.
  16. At the end of the day it's a deterent, anyone who wants in, will get in, hit and run, they'll grab what they can quickly, this is more likely to be a problem in a property that is secluded from others, gives them more time, best we can do is hope they'll go somewhere else that hasn't got a sounder/bellbox outside, even with a 'monitored' system there is still that 'timeslot' unfortunately, and the tossers know that.
