Battery Size

Hello,

I am wondering what size and type of battery to get for my alarm system.

The outlet i use has all sizes..

My alarm consists of:

GALAXY 8Plus Control Panel

Internal Sounder

External SAB

3 PIR's (maybe 4 soon)

1 Panic button (Obviously doesnt use power)

1 Keypad

2 door contacts (Obviously doesnt use power)

Thats about it.

Thanks to anyone in advance, this is my own system and i have been using a 7Ah, but im was thinking that it most likely doesnt need it.

Would i be right in saying that since the onboard fuses are 1amp.. the max draw is 1amp? Therefore.. according to the link posted by RJB.. (thanks) then a 4.2 amp battery would keep the system on for around 4 hours?

10 AMPS x 3 HRS = 30 Ah and the chosen option being 38Ah

It does'nt work like that mate. It all depends on the current draw of the system and the actual capacity of the battery (usually depreciates over time, but I've seen 7ah batteries putting out 9ah!)

Amp/hour literally means 1 amp per hour, so a 7 ah batt can supply 1 amp for 7 hours, 500 milliamps for 14 hours etc. The system should be able to support itself for a minimum of 12 hours when running under battery power only.
