Guest spirochete
Hi, Just thought I'd 'flag' this one in case anyone comes up against it...... I had a '593' panel fail out of the blue after being in service for about 3 months - just bad luck I think. Gardtec replaced it quickly with a new '595' board ( same fit but an updated version), which in turn had a problem (wouldn't / couldn't switch to battery back-up). It transpires that some of the initial release have a couple of components 'missing'! Replacement board arrived the next day.......fitted and all OK. So, should you fit one of these and get a "Battery / Fuse Check" message......you'll know the likely reason why. I think Gardetc have contacted most buyers of these boards, (I think only a couple of dozen went out), but this is just in case they missed contacting you (like they did me). However, I'd like to say that I found the people at Gardtec to be helpful and very on-the-ball. I don't use Guardtec but it's good to hear that they acknowledge errors ... too many companies say "really! we haven't heard that before" ... yeah right! Chris Teague
The 595 has been out in the field for a while now & is a good domestic panel IMO. There was (a good year or more ago) a batch of 593's (metal & poly cases) that had dry joints on the fuse holder giving the same problem (we had aprox 6 do this if I remember) & only needed a touch up with a soldering iron. Didn't know any thing about components missing though. I don't use Guardtec but it's good to hear that they acknowledge errors RJB: - Note your a Bristol firm. It's all water under the bridge now, but I have never found a good reason to go back - I use Enterprise nearby and find them very helpful. Zak
I use Enterprise nearby and find them very helpful. One is a manufacturer with direct contact and support with their customer's and the other is a trade distributor selling everybody's wares. It really comes down to which control equipment you want to use I suppose. Chris Teague
Of course, but why go to two places when everything you want can be found in one? I like to haggle with them all & I get better rates for cable & batteries at Gardtec Chris Teague (Sales & Operations Manager) Sightguard Intruder Division Covering the Isle of Wight: - Design, Installation, Maintenance & Takeover of Intruder Alarms, Fire Alarms & Equipment, CCTV, Access Control, Nursecall.
