Thank you Lurch, did not mean anything by the use of northerner. I just know from working up north with regard to our trade you sometimes do things different and have different names for equipment and materials.

Same in most trades I think, I get it with electrical and plumbing bits too. Wood seems to be pretty much the same throughout the UK though! I work up and down the country and end up with allsorts of weird and wonderful stuff that I don't expect.
