Hi there. There is a Wickes burglar alarm system in my house that was installed by the previous owner. There are 4 windows I want to get double glazed but they have magnetic contacts on them that are connected to the alarm system. I don't want to spoil the look of the nice new windows, so I would like to just get these disconnected - I don't think this will be a great security risk, as the windows are upstairs and if an intruder did gain entry through them there are PIR's that would set the alarm off.

There is also a Personal Attack (PA) button in the spare room with cables hanging across and down the wall - it's a real mess - since moving in I've discovered that the guy who lived here before was a real botch it DIYer!! I would also just like to get this disconnected.

As I haven't a clue about alarm systems, I was wondering if anyone could give me guidance on what sort of price I'll be faced with to get an alarm company out to disconnect these 4 window magnetic contacts and 1 Personal Attack (PA) button. I'll be picking a company from the Yellow Pages, so hope to avoid being overcharged as I'm not going to have any spare cash once I've paid for the windows!!

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Thanks so much Peter for your prompt reply. I really appreciate it. :)

I'll check out those sites you provided - or I'm in Edinburgh if any security firms out there want to leave there contact details.

Thanks again!
