Veritas R8 problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have just moved into a house that has what I think is a Veritas R8 installed. We have had some electrical work done in the house recently and the alarm box did some funny things when the electric was turned off. On the first few times the electric went on and off, it seemed to continue working (I assume via a battery of some sort), then eventually, it went into some sort of error mode and buzzed for about half an hour. The strobe light on the outside of the house was also flashing. When the electric was switched on again for the final time, the code we were given does not work anymore and if you disconnect the electric and reconnect now, the box just buzzes for ages, then sits there doing nothing.

I assume therefore that 1) the battery is dead and 2) the box has been reset to factory defaults. Would I be right in assuming this?

Can you tell me how to at least arm the system again (using the default code?), then how to change it to a code of my choice, and what should I do next?

Neal....

Sent you an email with the information.

If you let me know by Pm what your emails address is i will send you the user manuals.

I would suggest you get a local company to service your system, they will be able to reprogramme your system and fit a new battery.

I have a similar problem. My brother recently moved into a house with a Veritas alarm which had never been used by the previous owners (they had dogs)

i contacted a company called TEXE (I think) and they wre helpfull enough to tell me how to set it back to factory defaults.

The problem is the entry/exit point is NOT on zone 1 , it is on zones 2 & 3 so I need to reprogram it (I also want to change the Pin No. from the factory default.Could you please Email me a copy of the user manual.

I can email you a copy of the user manual but that wont help you change the zones. What you need to do is type 1234 prog to get to the factory set engineer code... if your lights dont all light up then the engineer code has been locked and you will have to contact the installation company.

Once in engineer mode enter one then the zone number of the zone you want to change. Then enter one of the following options:

2 - to change to inhibited entry (walk through)

3 - to change to guard

6 - to change to entry exit

then press prog... the system will make a two tone beep to cofirm you are correct.

So 1234 - prog -/- 1 - zone no to change (eg 1) - then the mode (eg 3 guard) - then prog

If you want to change another zone you will need to repeat the steps after the /.

When your are done press reset twice to return to normal operation.
