Intermittent Line Fault With Texecom Speech Dialler/veritas Excel Panel

if you have broadband have yo a filter fitted on the dialler? if not fit one

Hi

I have a switching type filter fitted on the dialler (only active when line in use) I have also tried a normal type. All other sockets (4 sockets for 4 telephones + one adsl router) have one fitted as well. All extensions are hardwired into the master socket (1 wire from master to junction box which has one cable to kitchen socket, one to dialler socket, 1 to upstairs jb which is connected to socket in bedroom 1 and one cable to office for adsl and fax machine) Everything works fine generally.

Yes

The reason I didn't use mains earth cabling is:

1. it only mentions in the book that it should be earthed but not how.

2. The dialler is a low voltage dc device with no mains power.

3. It doesn't look to be designed to use solid core earth cabling (connections rather small and cabling not very flexible)

I use a core stripped out of some 0.5mm/0.75mm flex....

I had the same issue using the same kit, wired the same way. Every Friday around 7pm the line dropped and the alarm would go into tamper.

There is broadband in the house, but everything was filtered Ok. I ended up convincing the customer that it must be a "Weekend" maintenance check from BT, and he agreed the risk of taking off the tamper on the line monitor circuit was small.

I also used one of the alarm cable cores as earth (back to the panel earth, well it had to connect to something...)

Still a bit bemused: if anyone knows for sure............
