External Strobe ~ Help

Featured Replies

Hi, I am new to this forum

I am looking for help with the following problem, I have a 'Veritas 8' alarm system fitted to a St John Ambulance building. I have the original installation manual and user guide, but not able to get any help to our problem from these.

The system has now got external strobes flashig all the time. The system is unset and has not been activated, even when I set the system and set it off, enter code then reset, the external strobes still flash. Any ideas or help would be welcomed.

Do you know what type of bell box it is or do you have a picture?

How old is the system? and has it ever been serviced?

Any problems with it or strange occurences prior to this fault occuring?

Thank you for replying.

I will get the box information tonight, and pass it on.

The system was installed in 1997.

It has been working OK, we have had a few triggers, that was indicated as tamper fault earlier in the year, but system reset OK each time.

hey ray ive experienced this problem before on a veritas on more than one occasion.

first thing i would check would be the bell cable could you have a short between the strobe core

and the negative core? :angry2:

Also the panel may be faulty it could be sending a permanent negative from the strobe terminal

(try it with your meter)

or of course you could have a faulty bell(havnt we all!!!)

good luck mate let us know how you get on

I also have this problem and I removed the strobe wire from the panel to stop it flashing.I have since been in touch with texecom support and they have said check the voltage across terminals s+d in the panel. If it is not around 10 - 13 volts then it is your panel which is at fault.

I have oly had my panel for 3 months and all was ok and now it is as you describe it. I hope this helps.

I doubt that low bell voltage is causing this.

Has your alarm been activated recently, if so have you reset your panel correctly?

Just a late update on this, I have had 2 texecom odyssey 1 external units with slow flashing strobe problems, no panel probs just a faulty board in sounder.

Neeks

Texecom did have a problem with strobes flashing constantly on their external units a few years ago. We had about 20 or more bad ones over a few months, but they sorted the problem and they have been fine since.

If this alarm has a Texecom external unit & it was fitted about 2 to 3 years ago, this could be your problem
