Hello Everybody,

I am a new member and would like to introduce myself. I am an electrican by trade but spent some time in the networking industry, been out on my own for the last three years.

Most of our CCTV is requests from customers wanting systems installed, so far so good, intresting to read about IP etc.

I have been reading this forum for the last year or so, may I take this oppurtunity to thank all the contributors, I have learnt an incredible amount of what to do and more importantly what not to do.

Keep up the good work.

Practice in the morning, practice at night. Practice in the evening, until you get it right.

Only make sure you are practising in the right way at the right time for it.

With regard to IP, how I see it is its a bit like VOIP (Voice Over IP) i.e. it is possible but maybe we are still a couple of steps away from it really working well.

I am busy learing the basics of "traditional" CCTV so a long way to go.

Stangley enough I was having this very conversation earlier today with an alarm engineer, he has started to fit a little IP CCTV, however there have been problems.

Thanks to all the replys, i shall post more soon.
