Minor fault on old Munford & White CPB2 panel

Featured Replies

My Munford & White CPB2 (keyswitch) Control Panel has worked reliably over nearly 20 years, despite the original house builder's contractor's short-cuts.

The alarm was recently triggered and remained on for several hours due to a photo frame dropping onto and activating the PA switch.

After this event (coincidence?) the entry/exit "low" level tone volume has become marginally audible while the tamper etc "high" level pulsed tone volume doesn't seem to have changed.

The sounds are made by a single internal loudspeaker fed by a single pair of wires from the main pcb terminal block.

Does anyone have a clue about what might have happened and how I might fix it. I'm assuming that the large IC1 (non-programmable) must be handle all the alarm logic but I don't know if there are other components between this and the terminals to the speaker. Also I can't see any reference in the install manual to indicate that there are any pcb links to set different levels.

I noted on this board that Munford & White were taken over by Tunstall and then Menzier? but I haven't got contact info for them yet.

Thanks for the time of anyone who can help.

Time to go shopping !

A new panel is what you need, I doubt if menvier would be able to answer your question, but even if they could, it would probably still be cheaper to replace than repair.

I would suggest changing the panic button to a double push unit as well, Almost zero chance of accidental activation.

:)
