Real Problems with Wireless systems

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm new to this group, and I'm looking at installing a wireless home alarm system. I want to cover my home downstairs, outside workshop with smoke detector and maybe one set of front drive gates.

I hear a lot of bad things about wireless systems, mostly posted by people in the know I guess.

I'm not the sort of person to buy a system from Wicks or B&Q, as I'd rather buy the best system I could, but as it stands a wired system would be rather tricky as most of the wiring would have to go outside running down the outside of my home - Would this be a problem.

I would really like to hear some opinions of a reasonably good wireless system, and what are the real problems.

I guess, false alarms is the major issue here, but are they really prone to that, and would interference actually cause a false alarm?

Thanks,

Steve

Not a problem no , not even an option!

There is some very good wirefree stuff available - some will use it and some wont even touch it, if you have a search on this site you'll find loads of info.

Having siad that a wired system may be possible, only a survey could determine that.

What ever you choose though I would suggest using a SSAIB or NACOSS approved installer, or at least one who is working towards it (*)

* OK Smarty? ;)
