veritas R8 strobe fault

Featured Replies

i have a veritas R8 alarm with oddesy 3 bell box i installed it 2 years ago approx now for som reason the strobe flashes even after reset and when the system is unset,it seems to please itself any advice would be great cheers:blink:

It could be a number of things. There could be a short in the bellbox itself or the wiring to it, the panel may have developed a fault.

Normally a strobe flashing indicates a 24hr tamper circuit fault - but normally this would show up on your panel as tamper and you wouldnt be able to set the alarm.

Where abouts are you? - Someone near you may be able to help.

Also If the system hasnt been serviced for two years it might well be due a checkover anyway.

When the back up batt in the panel starts to fail - it draws to much current and it could possibly cause some other strange faults to be apparent on the panel? - just an Idea.

Thanks i will check the battery with a meter Oh and i live in Newcastle Upon Tyne

Just be aware of mains inside the panel - and also opening the cover will cause a tamper alarm, putting in your code should silence this - unless its been set to engineer reset only.

Be carefull, if your not sure - get someone in mate.

Regards Dave.

While you are in there checking the battery , disconnect the strobe trigger ( S ) , if the fault continues , its a cable fault ( staple?) or bellbox fault.

Regards.

cheers Fastcar , ialready been in the control panel and as you said disconnected the S wire and the strobe on the bell box just kept going, does this mean the bell box is at fault? oh and since then its decided now to go back to normal ?

Still looks like a cable fault , to prove it , your gonna have to get the ladders out and disconnect the strobe trigger in the bell box ,the strobe should stop.
