Guest johnmiller
I just had to replace a PIR today which had gone faulty. It was only a few months old (Pyronix Magnum). It worked ok at first then gave a false alarm a couple of months ago, then another a week or so ago, and now it shows a continual alarm. Measuring the N/C contacts always reads open now. The PIR led seems to light when you would expect though so I supect the output driver (transistor?) is at fault. I replaced the PCB with another which is working fine. I was quite surprised it went faulty so soon. Anyone else seen this? Also, can anyone recommend some decent replacement PIRs? Thanks, John PS. can anyone recommend where to get lens for Pyronix? I want to replace some Magnum type 3s with type 2s.
Mister_Dave
John , from personal experience avoid the pyronix cack like the plague. A good replacement pir would be the RX40 from optex or the prestiege compact from Texecom. Dave Dave Oxendale York based security systems engineer.
