uotinam
CP8L not keeping settings for Zones & odd Passcode probs? I have spoken to GardTec/ Risco Support who was helpful, but suggest just buy another new Control Box. Want to know if anyone has an idea what's going on... Problem - System does not Keep "some changes / setting" * WORKS: Setting Time/Date, Some Zones * Fails: After Setting Engineer Code appears to wipe the user code but New Engineer code works * Fails: Not able to change some of the ZONEs after exit out 0,0 they return to defaults go back in they are set to default * Fails: Change the on ZONE appears to keep only 1st letter rest can become random or nothing (always did this from NEW) 1 x Eurosec CP8L V1.5 firmware 1 x Eurosec XS7 External Irritator 1 x Fire or Smoke Detector 1 x LCD Panel 7 x Sensors - Have "7 Zones" 6 sensors & 1 fire/smoke detector (no hardwired items) Background - I installed the CP8L system about 5yr ago. (Quite ok with electrical, electronics, DIY, fixing , breaking anything etc. etc) Finally decided to add the final Zone, a will do that "5 year later job" even thou I walked past the box sitting on the floor each morning. But this all started when I had an alarm trigger the other day when selecting Quick to leave and the alarm triggered on Zone 8 the smoke detector, (I think it had a red light on it). Rotated this off and back on (top part of the base) and its was fine, I guess after 5 years the contact slide pins needed some movement to make contact so all was good. At this point an alarm in my head triggered that the Smoke/fire Detector was incorrectly set on the alarm panel, it was only triggered when the Alarm was being set and it should trigger regardless if set or not. Today's Saga: 1. Fitted Sensor to system Zone 6 2. So Zone 1 - 6 are normal sensors, 7 NIL (Has staple wire short), 8 Smoke / Fire. 3. After fitting Sensor, I appeared to have RESET the panel, my code no longer worked 4. Now default Engineer code 1234 & User code 5678 5. Enter Engineer mode, Set zone to * ACCESS & Full & Name (5 of 6) * E/E & Full for Zone @ door entrance * Fire & 24hr for that sensor. 6. Enter 0 & 0 to main menu Problem: 7. Enter engineer mode, go to settings - Zone 1 , 2 now changed back to Part 2 ? 8. If I change "Name" of zone it never worked or works, only keep 1st letter then places either **** for the rest 9. It Keeps Date & Time 10. Change engineer code - appears to remove the user default code ?? 11. Setting Exit Times, does not appear to make difference to buzzing exit sound time and or never stops ? Tried: (Anyone know how to stop the outside panel from going off when MAIN POWER & Battery is removed..?) without using a flame thrower or RPG? Factory Reset Unit - * power off , remove battery ---- wait..... * power on enter 147NO, but did not really appear to do anything different than pulling the power totally of the unit...? * Displayed the Firmware v1.5... No msg to say RESET done or anything) So diagnoses is. 1. Something is wrong 2. Memory "Write" / "Corruption" 3. Lost Cause Any suggestions ??? Don't want pay an "installer" to play with it and charge me to say just replace it. And do I continue with this system, or move to something from the 21st century ? if anything exists in this disposable devices ? Thanks in Advance for your time Rob Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/33453-gardtec-eurosec-cp8l-problems-with-programming-settings/ Share on other sites
equinox
Speaking as someone who has installed and maintained these systems I would say you have a faulty control panel and it needs replacing. They are basic panels and the eurosec CPX would be an upgrade worth considering. Specialist
Totally agree with Equinox, these are a basic but reliable panel. A bit confused by 1 thing though: (no hardwired items) ? Customers Love us, Intruders Hate us. magpye
First, I don't know this panel. I have not read all of your post but one thing that immediately came to mind was, have you got your User & Engineer codes the wrong way around? Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care. uotinam
Ok I purchased a new panel, "CP8L" and will swap the unit out and see how this goes... I wonder if this time I am able to programme "names" for the zones of the bat and see if it keeps them.... @ Specialist - For Hardwired, I was talking about the items like door & windows sensors switches (magnetic etc) @magpye - Nope codes correct, as I don't get all the options in User mode : The new Install Guide (rev 1.5) came with an Addendum Sheet : with different Power UP Master Code than before from what I can see.. Thanks for Replies, will see how this goes or if the neighbourly love will run thin when its going off during setup....
