Just got a new PC running Windows 7 Pro. and I couldn't stand the Clear Type smoothed text shown on screens - IMHO Dire!

If anybody is interested it can be switched off easily by...

1, enter "appearance" in the start menu search box

2, click "adjust the performance and appearance of windows"

3, select "adjust for best performance" and click OK

4, Voila - no more bloomin blurred texts and you can actually make use of the wider screens.

I've also reduced the size of the taskbar icons by right-clicking the bar and changing the size in the properties...

Just a tip.. use or not.
