Flashing Led Light On Galaxy 16

Featured Replies

Hi

I purchased my house a couple of years ago which has a Galaxy 16 alarm system installed and have had no trouble with it until recently. I think the alarm system was installed by a friend of the previous owner, the only documentation that I have is the User guide, needless to say we have no maintenance contract on it. The control box has Ademco Microtech Galaxy 16 plus Cp171 as the model reference.

Recently the LED light on the control panel has been flashing rapidly, on checking the system log I see the message System -03 Fuse/DC Fail, which I presume obsviously means a fuse has blown in the control box?

I have the user code but no engineer one, and understand that I can't open up the box as the tamper alarm will trigger? Is there anything else I can do, will the situation worsen (i.e. the alarm will go off).

Other option would be to get an engineer, any recommendations for companies in the North Kent area who would take on a job like this, and a rough estimate of the cost?

Many thanks

Chris Chandler

changing the fuse is easy, but the question is. why did it blow in the first place?

I suggest engineer

Got to agree. This is not a job to attempt yourself. Depending on the tamper reset level programmed into the panel, if you open the lid you could find the panel won't reset without the engineer code. Time to call the professionals.....

As regards the initial fault, it's more than likely the control panel battery has breathed it's last and will almost certainly need to be replaced. Can't quite remember what that fault code means. It's possible there is a cable fault ( new carpets fitted perhaps?) but either way you'll need to call someone to rectify the problem.

Phone some local companies for quotes and post the results. Some of the esteemed gentlemen on here will be sure to advise on who to go for.

Thanks for your prompt comments. Will get some quotes.

BTW, apart from some painting no other changes have been made recently.

Got three reasonable quotes

Logic Alarms Rochester Kent

EPS Gillingham Kent

Cybereye Security Maidstone Kent

Anyone had experience with any of these?

Thanks
