May 4, 200818 yr comment_196479 Hi I'm Keith and I need some advice. We have a G3 which has worked perfectly for 6 years. But it has just started going off intermittently even though the alarm isn't set. Can anyone advise me please? - manual lost! May 4, 200818 yr comment_196482 Hi Kieth welcome to the forum, this is what we call a tamper fault and could be caused by one or more of the following faulty battery faulty switch on a device faulty switch on the outside sounder damaged cable a knocked unit something not been fitted (or re fitted) correctly you`d need a test meter - and a lot of luck if its anything more than a faulty battery so thats where I would start first (with the battery) Link to comment https://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/topic/23110-help/#findComment-196482 Share on other sites Share on LinkedIn Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 May 4, 200818 yr comment_196485 Hi, is it going off inside, outside or both? Has the control panel have any writing on the front? Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care. May 4, 200818 yr comment_196487 Hi - it only ever goes off outside - but its only sound - the light on the alarm doesn't come onNo - no writing on control box Did all this start during all the heavy rain that we've had recently? I bet the electronic module, inside your outside box, is wet/corroded causing this intermittent problem. These things don't last for ever, bet its been on the way out for some time, so now it's letting you know Guess what you have to do, have a look yourself, better and safer still get an engineer to have a look for you and I expect change the box, more so if it's looking a bit tatty after 6 years. Also get the panel battery replaced at the same time. ps, I forgot, have a quick look at the 'Gallery' - link at top of page, see if you can see the panel there Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care. May 4, 200818 yr Author comment_196488 Heard for the first time today - couldn't see panel in gallery. Immediate concern is to stop it going off and upsetting neighbours on Sunday. and its a holiday tomorrow. Have now activated alarm and so far not a squeak Did all this start during all the heavy rain that we've had recently?I bet the electronic module, inside your outside box, is wet/corroded causing this intermittent problem. May 4, 200818 yr comment_196489 I'm afraid if the problem is as I have suggested, the only fix is up at 'the box', (noise only outside?) there is a battery there, whatever you do at the panel is not going to solve it I'm afraid Someone told me I was ignorant and apathetic, I don't know what that means, nor do I care.
