Apparently, the Avtech dvr box I've got doesn't transmit audio over the internet along with the pictures even though it has audio and it can be recorded etc.

Can anyone think of a way of transmitting audio at the same time as the images from the dvr box.

I thought of a separate telephone line with no ring and auto answering but obviously expensive . . . . .

most of them have basic networking, only thing i can think of would be a IP webserver that does Audio unless you want to upgrade your DVR to one that supports audio over the internet. I think Xvision do one that supports audio over the internet
