Ai/vf Domes Under Sodium 70's

Featured Replies

Hi guys/gals

Has anybody had any problems with 1/3" AI/VF col domes (Sony Super Had+SV11 chipset - 540 tvl) installed in location with Sodium 70 (yellow) lights?. These type lights charge/discharge at a freq that the human eye cannot see, but cameras can.

We are getting a 'shimmer'/ghosting effect on images & also cams are struggling with colouration. So far we have.............

1. Changed PSU's to DA396 (no switch mode psu's used) etc

2. Changed complete P4 3.3Gb dual core CCTV Server (GV650-16ch based)

3. Upgraded from GV650-16ch (50fps) to GV800-16ch (100fps) (sodium gas disgharge lights operate by applying a large alternating voltage across a gas filled enclosure, usually with the same frequency as the power line, i.e., 50 or 60 Hz).

4. We have tried some cheap 1/3" fixed lens IR bullets 420 tvl & a 16x zoom d/n camera 550 tvl & the images from these are ok.

Has anyone else experienced a similar problem?

Regards

Can' t say for sure in your situation but i'd always use white lighting with cctv.

You could try changing the bulbs to white sodium which should be good enough depending on how well the place is illuminated but metal halide are better.

Hi Guys/Gals

cheers for all your input.

The Sodium 70 lights (yellow) are part of the warehouse lighting & due to the amount there the customer will not pay to change them to the more expensive 'white' versions.

The images are 'ghosting' - like when you watch TV & the ariel is not right.

The cameras are MDC5 1/3" Hi Res 540L AI/VF domes (SONY Super HAD+SV11) - & no matter how we change dips (AWB,BLC,AGC,Flickerless, etc) the images still ghost. The manufacturer has said it is caused by the way the filter is reacting to the lights & they are looking into it at pres.

Colouration we can tune out as best we can but the 'ghosting' is a different matter.

Regards
