Hi - am new to this forum and any help would be gratefully received

Had this kit installed for 5 years now - no problems at all

Yesterday morning, a bulp blew and tripped the cicuit in the consumer unit - i noted there was no power to the keypad as i walked past it to switch the power back on

Switched it back on and the alarm started sounding striaght away as i was in an alrmed zone when i flicked the power back on.

The keypad now had power to it so entered my code to stop and reset the system - noted all the LEDs were flashing but this stopped once i had reset the system. No problem, i thought!

However, when i wanted to leave the house it would not allow me any exit time and set as soon as i entered my code. The same happened when i tried to set it for night mode. Also, when i entered the engineering code it would let me into the engineering mode - it simpy set the alarm again.

Anyone any ideas?

If i remove the cover of the keypad, can i force it into engineering mode that way and then alter the settings for the exit time, night mode, etc?

Many thanks

It sounds like the backup battery in your panel needs replacing. Assuming that the system as not been serviced for the last 5 years, I would recommend getting a local company in to service it and sort out any problems.

Also, it sounds like your system may have defaulted to the factory settings and need reprogramming.

If you are not confident with what you are doing don't attempt to open the panel and replace the battery as there are mains voltages present that can kill.

Removing the cover on the keypad will not 'force it into engineer mode' and allow you to reprogramme it.

Thanks Simon

I do have it servoced annually and i know he checks the adequacy of the back up battery - can i do a rough chck by switching off the power again to see what happens?

If i remove the front panel off the keypad, this will presumabley trigger the tamper circuit - can i not then just enter my code and/or the eng code to get it into eng mode?

If not, how do i get it into eng mode so as to alter the settings for the exit/night mode etc?

thanks again

Call the alarm company that is servicing your system as you have a contract with them.

Why would you want to do any checks as you have paid yearly maintenance for having your system kept in working order.

!

As Scottish Engineer says call the company you have a contract with to sort the problem. The chances are that if you try and make changes to alter the system you will make your contract void. Afterall this is why you have a maintenance contract.
