I might have missed something but I've just looked through both Inst & User manuals for the 500r and can find no mention of chime anywhere

LOL - nah the PIR`s do, direct from tech support when I had the same thing last year " it CAN chime at the panel to give early indication that the battery is going...."

Ahah, at last, but it's not a chime is it, it's a beep - so change the battery (all of them)

So this 'beep' is in addition to the obvious, the panel flashing the Low Batt LED and the appropriate zone LED then?

apparently it can do it early - ie before the panel starts indicating low battery, have to admit I was stumped till I rang em
