Ptz Camera Settings

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have had my PTZ camera setup now for about a week. It is all working fine and I am very pleased with it.

When I look through th 'Settings' menus, there is a setting that I don't understand and since the manual is obviously translated from another language it doesn't always make any sense.

For the 'Focus' setting and 'White Balance' setting, I have the options 'Manual', 'Auto' and 'Push Auto'. I understand the 'Manual' and 'Auto' settings, but was does 'Push Auto' mean. It doesn't seem to make any difference to 'Auto' when I choose it.

Hi Steevo

I think you will find that Auto will constantly try to focus or white balance whereas Push Auto will Auto-focus (or WB) each time you press the button. Manual will make you focus or WB manually. Basically under some conditions the camera may be constantly 'searching' for focus and as a result out of focus. In this situation use push auto.

cheers

Many thanks for that.

That makes sense. One of the things I have noticed is that sometimes the focus waivers between in focus and out of focus even when the PTZ is stationary. This must be because I have it on'Auto'. The only problem I found with 'Push Auto' was that when panning the camera it would focus on its position but if someone then walked in front of the camera they would be out of focus and it would remain that way until I did a quick flick of the switch to pan or tilt a couple of degrees then they would be a sharp image.

I guess its a case of getting the best average solution.
