Diy Alarm Install

Featured Replies

I'm also an electronics engineer.

And I'm also against wireless alarms.

And so are all my colleagues (at least the ones I asked).

Just wanted to shout this out

meaningfull advise time

its been nearly two weeks since your first question which in some areas is long enough to have the whole house stripped bare

if you want to fit it yourself - which i never advise irespective of works background - get on with it before its too late

go to the local small electrical shop and buy a kit of them chances are it will be what they fit themselves and you can always get help and advise afterwards

otherwise ring two or three local firms to qoute the work and let someone else have the hassle of doing the site survey, risk assesment, purchasing, installing, getting mains to the unit, programming and testing they have to have insurance for a reason its so easy to get the design wrong if you arnt fully up to date with the current regs ( could you name them?)

ive been installing cables for overr twenty years but i still payed someone to do my home cinema for me!

maybe you could agree with them that you do the cabling then they take over - seems like a good compramise but either way i would get a move on before its too late
