Sounder in Bell Box

Featured Replies

 Just update control panel and PIR's in Home Alarm System. Everything working fine until I come to the sounder in the Bell Box. When I disconnected the power the SCB in the bell box set the siren off as it should. When I reset the alarm and did a walk test on the bell/siren all I got was a chirping sound. This is exactly the same when I set off the alarm. I have replaced the siren and it is still the same. I am presuming there is something wrong with the board in the bell box. Any assistance would be welcome as to what the problem might be or if it is possible to get a new board.

Is the chirping coming from the bell box?

If so it could be that the NiCd battery in the bell is flat. This should recharge over time if you have got 12V connected correctly from the panel.

Can you not run the bell in SAB mode (as opposed to SCB)? It would then draw power for the sounder from the control panel not the NiCd, this usually sounds louder. NB You would still need to check that the bell can sound from its own battery eg by removing power to it.

Answer to the first question, the control panel is an SL Compact 8C (8EP 410 SL8C G3 Panel with built in keypad).

The Bell Box I think is ADE and the onl no. I can see on it are:

The answer to the second reply is the siren sounds perfectly alright when I disconnect the power at the control panel, ie, the alarm goes off as it should, but when I activate the alarm straigh after the siren only gives a chirp.
